During the latest media event Apple claimed that the iPad Air is almost twice as fast as the iPad 4, which is now confirmed. According to Geekbench 3 benchmarks for the iPad Air, the device appears to be 90 percent faster than the previous model.
The new iPad sports a 64-bit A7 chip running at 1.4 GHz, which is the same chip found in iPhone 5s, only 100 MHz faster. The iPad Air scores 1465 points on the single-core test, and 2643 points on the multi-core test.
The new full-sized iPad will be released on Friday, November 1 in numerous countries around the world, while the new Retina iPad Mini will be available later in the month.
